List of PERL functions used in this course.

• length - Determination of the length of a string.
  Use: $no_of_chars = length( $source_string );
  $no_of_chars receives the number of characters in the string $source_string.
• sqrt - Calculation of square root.
  Use: $root = sqrt( $value );
  $root receives the calculated square root of $value. This is in most cases a real (fractional) number.
• substr - Substring.
  Use: $part = substr( $source_string, $position, $length );
  $part is a fragment from $source_string, starting at $position and continuing for $length characters.
